What’s a Lotion Bar?

What’s a Lotion Bar?

What exactly is a hard lotion bar?

A lotion bar is a great alternative to a liquid water-based body lotion. They contain oil and are solid which makes them great for the whole family to use. They are also very cost effective since they melt on contact with your skin, therefore less of the bar is used.

Lotion bars are, like liquid lotion, a great way to keep your skin soft. But they are solid which means they aren’t messy and travel really well in a purse. The combination of the oil, butter and wax create a lotion bar that’s firm at room temperature, but softens when applied to the skin.

Simply rub the lotion bar on your body and allow it to absorb into your skin. I love to use it in the morning after my shower.

Are Lotion Bars Good for Your Skin?

It depends on what is use to make your lotion bars, everything we use our lotion bars helps to nourish skin!

Calendula Oil -Sweet almond oil infused with calendula flowers. Calendula oil has antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that might make it useful in healing wounds, soothing eczema and relieving nappy rash. It’s also used as an antiseptic.

Calendula oil is a natural oil extracted from marigold flowers (Calendula officinalis). It’s often used as a complementary or alternative treatment.

Calendula Flowers -are great for the skin, and are especially nourishing for dry, irritated, and chapped skin.

Shea Butter is primarily composed of fatty acids such as stearic and oleic acids. The moisturizers in shea butter are the same as those produced by the sebaceous glands of the skin. It is very healing to the skin.

Beeswax locks in moisture and provides a protective barrier against harsh environmental factors. It also has properties that are healing to skin.

 Shelf Life

Because there is no water our lotion bar formula, it is shelf stable for up to a year without the use of preservatives. Store out of direct sunlight and away from heat – it will melt!

Even though lotion bars work well on dry skin, they’re not always the best to tote around as they can melt in very warm weather.
